A new immigration program has been put in place recently by the Bulgarian government and its department of immigration in order to greatly facilitates and speed up the process for immigrants applying on the business immigration category. This program allows high net worth individuals and their families to get their Bulgarian permanent resident status with all the advantages of a EU permanent resident. To summarize, the candidate needs to invest passively the sum of 511,292 Euros which is returned to him without interest at the end of a period of 5 years. The immigrant also can chose to finance the sum. Like the other business immigration programs, the Bulgarian immigrant investor must demonstrate that he has a minimum amount of money that he has obtained legally ( 1,000,000 Euros) and that he is not under criminal investigation.

Recently, the addition of new countries in the European Union has provided a new option for non EU residents to access this highly valuable European residency status. Now foreigners can get access to the European Union resident status through Bulgaria. Under the European Union Immigration accords you do not even need a valid Bulgarian passport to travel freely in the European Union. A simple valid Bulgarian ID is sufficient.
